Nice to meet you all!
The 5th Digital Economy Forum(DEF 2022) hosted by the Ministry of Economy and Finance and organized by the Korea Start-up Forum will be held on September 22 in a hybrid format, onsite and online.
DEF, a global forum that predicts the future of digital economy and presents its direction inaugurated in 2018 has provided a place to share knowledge with domestic and international opinion leaders and start-ups and raise the awareness of the digital economy.
Digital transformation has accelerated in all areas including economy, society and culture as the world has gone through COVID-19 pandemic over the last two years. Start-ups armed with cutting-edge technologies and energy of innovation have explosively grown while repeating challenges and failures in the midst of the unprecedent pandemic situation.
Countries and companies around the world are in a race to gain hegemony in setting the order of the digital economy and aggressive investment into technology is suggested as a key solution to overcoming the global economy crisis upon us as the pandemic turns into an endemic. It is not an exaggeration to say that start-ups, which have become as a key player in the digital economy based on technology, are changing the game of the global economy.
The theme of DEF 2022 is Toward Dynamic and Innovative Digital Economy. We will explore ways to reform regulations and examine venture investment policies for innovative growths of start-ups, which have emerged as one of main pillars of the economy and predict the future of our society by identifying the agenda for sustainability and competitiveness of the digital economy.
Jennifer Zhu Scott, the founding partner of I.N. Capital who was named as one of the top 50 most powerful women in technology by Forbes and Steven S. Hoffman, the founder of FounderSpace and author of The Five Forces That Change Everything: How Technology Is Shaping Our Future are invited as a keynote speaker for the forum. They will share their insight into the changes of technology driven by the transition toward the digital economy and the changes into world’s financial and physical economy through technology in the global economic crisis.
Four thematic sessions will follow the keynote speeches which will address Pro-Innovation Regulatory Environment, Digital Platform Government, The Digital Divide, and Reshaping of Start-up Investment Ecosystem. We will look into the impacts the digital economy has on the society at large and find ways to address the challenges to become a leader in the digital economy.
We have also prepared a pitching session where you can hear the stories of start-ups first hand. The cases of start-ups leading innovations in various fields will offer you the opportunity to see the reality and vision of the digital economy in one place.
We hope that the forum will provide you with valuable insight and look forward to seeing you at DEF 2022 in this early autumn with a nice cool breeze.
